Life of the Party brings surprise laughs, but struggles where it matters most

Life of the Party is another comedy from the husband and wife duo of director/writer Ben Falcone and actor Melissa McCarthy. In this film, McCarthy also helps out with the script and, surprisingly, delivers a movie far better than I anticipated.

However, there’s a whole lot lacking in the beginning and awful ending of this movie that holds it back.

Is this one of McCarthy’s better comedy films where she’s the focal point of the plot? Yes. Is this any good? Well…

Life of the Party is rated PG-13, runs 1 hour and 45 minutes and hits theaters May 11, 2018.
