For the longest time, I had no clue who in the heck Shazam was in the DC universe. My best friend and writer for Reflect the Screen (come back to us, Cesar) introduced me to the character. He’s a phenomenal hero and has an interesting backstory.
Director David F. Sandberg, according to Comic Book Resources, is going to begin shooting the Shazam film very soon. Sandberg said in a FilmRiot interview,
“There’s a script. It’s the next DC movie to shoot.”
Hey, now! This is exciting news for comic book fans, and what’s more is that Sandberg has been doing his homework in preparation for the film. Read this long quote:
“I’m taking it all in. Some of those really old ones are quite fun, when he’s, like, fighting Hitler. Stuff like that. No, cause he’s been around since the 40s for, like, as long as Superman. So there’s a lot to read and that’s also interesting because he sort of has a couple of different origin stories or a couple of different takes on it. You know, you have the most recent sort of Geoff Johns version and then you have Ordwell [sic] version and then you have those really old versions. It’s going to be really interesting just because of how hardcore the fans are.”
Who’s who for the cast of Shazam remains unknown and further details are slim, but CBR reported actor Armie Hammer is open to taking on the role.
