Marvel Studios has a gem in the first Ant-Man, which did well to blend comedy and a heist film together. It helps that actor Paul Rudd was a nearly flawless Scott Lang, and director Edgar Wright left enough genius on the film before his split due to creative differences.
On Tuesday, Marvel Studios began the new month with a short YouTube video announcing production has begun on the Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Those returning for the sequel include director Peyton Reed and actors Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña and Michael Douglas (the last one’s return makes me wonder, as well).
Marvel Studios’ official summary for Ant-Man and the Wasp is as follows:
“In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.”
There are tons of potential with this film, and I’m looking forward to seeing Lilly and Rudd’s chemistry grow on-screen.
The sequel is expected to hit theaters July 6, 2018.
