Joan Lee, the wife of Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, died at 95 years old, Thursday, in Los Angeles.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson for Stan Lee and his family confirmed the passing of Joan. The spokesperson told THR,
“I can confirm the sad news that Joan Lee passed away this morning quietly and surrounded by her family. The family ask that you please give them time to grieve and respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
On Marvel’s official website, they also released a statement that read,
“We are so saddened to hear about the loss of Joan Lee. We lost a member of the Marvel family today and our thoughts and prayers go out to Stan and his daughter Joan in this difficult time.”
Joan reportedly suffered at stroke earlier in the week, THR said.
Stan and Joan Lee were married on Dec. 5, 1947. Joan was the mother to two children, J.C. and Jan. Jan unfortunately died three days after her birth in 1953.
