F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It's been a good ride & Im grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years… One Love 🤘🏼❤️🤗🙏🦄✨🌍🙊🤔
Rodriguez’s character in the series, Letty Ortiz, began getting a larger focus from the fourth Fast and Furious film and beyond, but one can only think she’s speaking up mainly due to the other women getting less exposure.
The last line in her Instagram post is very telling: “It’s been a good ride & Im grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years… One Love.”
Either she’s putting pressure on the studio, or Rodriguez is genuinely ready to call it quits. After all, Fate of the Furious was the first film in a while that began to have that “maybe we should end the series” feeling. Also, there’s no telling whether Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will return for future films, but with all his other work, it’s safe to say he’s thinking beyond the F&F franchise.
