Elsa (Idina Menzel) was teased in the trailer, but it seems Olaf will be the focus of the 21-minute short, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, directed by Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton. The animation almost seems better than that found in Frozen, and the singing seems to be on-par.
John Lasseter, chief creative officer for Disney and Pixar animation told Entertainment Weekly that this is giving more character to the Frozen franchise. “People forget that the first movie took place in the middle of summer, so this is really the first holiday season after the girls have come together, but what they’re realizing is that because they were separated for so long, they don’t have any family traditions.”
“Stevie and I were deeply honored to be entrusted by John [Lasseter] to create an all-new story with these characters we love,” said Olaf’s director Kevin Deters. “We’re thrilled to have our film play on the big screen with ‘Coco’ during the holidays.”
This is in the same vein as Frozen, so if you loved that film, you’ll find Olaf’s Frozen Adventure right up your alley.
Olaf’s Frozen Adventure debuts in front of Coco, which premieres in North America on Nov. 22, 2017.
