‘Somewhere, over the weekend box office totals’: June 9-11

June 9-11 was a great weekend for our favorite Amazonian and not so great (domestically) for The Mummy. Let’s take a look at the numbers, according to Box Office Mojo.

Weekend Totals for June 9-11, 2017

  1. Wonder Woman $57,180,000 (-44.6 percent change)/ worldwide total: $435,202,503
  2. The Mummy — $32,246,120/ worldwide total: $174,046,120
  3. Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie $12,300,000/
    worldwide total: $47,268,087
  4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales $10,713,000/ worldwide total: $528,767,274
  5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — $6,242,000/ worldwide total: $828,275,490
  6. It Comes At Night
  7. Baywatch
  8. Megan Leavey
  9. Alien: Covenant
  10. Everything, Everything

Notes: ‘The Mummy’ is a flop domestically, but it’s thriving overseas ($141,800,000), which makes up 81 percent of its total revenue … ‘Wonder Woman’ is a film that has legs: it only dropping 44 percent since last weekend is impressive … Sadly, ‘It Comes at Night’ barely made a splash … Go away, ‘Baywatch’ …

  1. What? Poor thing, every one please slow down, your thought process is irrelevant whats important is the over all facts. Movie Movie Movie and Movies keep making them. We will keep watching. It’s what we do, it’s who we are. There is never a flop! Flops never leave the paper it is written on. Pay attention, no one is that blind! My part time stunt working neighbor just got a new paint job on his 488 spider. That’s a Ferrari for the one’s who didn’t know. Did I say part time stunt person! Movies never flop. Save the lies for the unknowing general public. They make so so so so so much money.

    • “The Mummy” DID flop domestically. And there are such things as flops. Not everything put onto the Silver Screen is perfect and, as a critic, I call ’em out when they fall short of the mark.
