$3.6 billion.
That’s the amount Comcast’s NBCUniversal spent in their acquisition of DreamWorks Animation, Thursday.
CEO of NBCUniversal Steve Burke feels optimistic about this deal for the future of the company.
“DreamWorks Animation is a great addition to NBCUniversal,” said Burke in a NBCUniversal official statement. “DreamWorks will help us grow our film, television, theme parks and consumer products businesses for years to come.”
What’s interesting is the theme parks comment. Marvel is apparently going to move out of the Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios theme park after being bought by Disney. This gives NBCUniversal the ability to integrate DreamWorks properties into their theme parks.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
